Time Saving Meatballs

Rolling meatballs can be time consuming. To save time, I use a plastic egg carton to shape 12 meatballs in just a minute.

Having pre-cooked meatballs in your freezer will make your life so much easier. You can whip up meatball dishes in just 15 minutes. Meatballs go well with soup noodles, spaghetti and tomato/herb sauce. Coating meatballs with sweet and sour sauce to go with a cold beer is the perfect match.

Ingredients ( Makes 50 medium meat balls)

  • 500g of lean minced pork

  • 500g of lean minced beef

  • 1 tbsp of soya sauce

  • 1 tbsp of cooking wine

  • 1/2 tbsp of salt

  • 1/2 tbsp of pepper

  • 1 tbsp of sugar

  • 4 chilis (diced)

  • 2 eggs

  • 4 tbsp of panko breadcrumbs

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven at 350F

  2. Mix all the above ingredients well, preferably by hand.

  3. Brush some oil in plastic egg carton

  4. Put equal amount of meat in the 12 compartments

  5. Tie the 2 ends with rubber bands

  6. Shake the egg carton until the meatballs are round

  7. Put the meatballs on a baking tray

  8. Baked for 30 mins

  9. Let the meatball cool down and put them in Ziploc bags

  10. Freeze them laying flat so that the meat balls can easily break apart when frozen

Seasonings for sweet and sour sauce

  • 1 tsp of soya sauce

  • 1 tsp of sugar

  • Minced garlic and chili

  • 1/2 tsp of vinegar

Defrost meatballs in the microwave or in a pan. Heat up the seasonings and coat the meatball well.
